Cecil Albrecht, 85, of Woodburn, went to be with Jesus on February 7, 2018. He passed away at the home he built 54 years ago. He was born on Oct 1, 1932 in Bay Port, MI. Cecil was the son of Edwin and Anna (Maust) Albrecht. He married Doris Wyse in Oct 1955. He was a member of Maplewood Mennonite Church.
As a building contractor and finish carpenter he enjoyed working with exotic woods and built his family beautiful keepsakes.
Surviving are his wife Doris, sons Tom (Dee) of Goshen; Greg, of Naples, FL; daughters Sherri Albrecht, of Fort Wayne; and Jan (Brian) Ramer of Goshen; Sister Marilyn (Sam) Delagrange; sister-in-law Velma (Willis) Albrecht; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth, and Willis; sisters, Bertha Plank and Joyce Albrecht. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 5 pm, Saturday, February 17 at Maplewood Mennonite Church, 4129 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, with calling from 3pm to 5pm prior to the service. GOSHEN - Nevin R. Albrecht, 91, died on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 8:45 a.m.
Nevin was born on May 31, 1926, in Pigeon, Michigan to Katherin (Shetler) Albrecht and Emanuel Albrecht.
Nevin is survived by two daughters, Lola (Merrill) Gingerich of Milford, and Sharlene (Rev. Donald) Patterson of Kalona, Iowa; two sons Jerry (Barbara) Albrecht of Goshen; and Dr. Lynn (Kathy) Albrecht of Edwardsburg, Michigan, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and brother E.J. (Alma) Albrecht Jr. of Forest Grove, Oregon.
His wife Carolyn; an infant daughter in 1950; brothers Roy Albrecht and Erlic Albrecht; two sisters Norma Albrecht and Verda Albrecht; one grandson Michael Patterson.
Nevin was a farmer; self-employed excavating and landscaping company; a machinery operator at Ira C. Mast Construction; worked at MMA as grounds supervisor and maintenance and also worked in maintenance at AMBS.
He had interest in gardening and growing flowers, especially Dahlias; known as The Plant Man; a member of the American Dahlia Association and he enjoyed fishing.
Visitation is Tuesday, April 17 from 4- 8 p.m. at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home 331 S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour prior to funeral service on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18 at Belmont Mennonite Church 925 Oxford St., Elkhart, Indiana 46516.
Nevin will be buried at Yellow Creek Cemetery at a later date.

Alderfer, Cherylyn Nicole, 24, of Durango Colorado died May 11, 2018. She was born November 15, 1993 at Denver, Colorado to Brent Alderfer and Cheryl D. Neufeld.
Surviving are her father, Brent Alderfer, step-mother, Deirdre Alderfer, siblings, Aiden Alderfer, Andrew Alderfer, Aleesia Alderfer, and Adeline Alderfer; twin brothers, Lucas and Andre Greve; and paternal grandmother, Gladys (Henning) Alderfer.
Her mother in 1995 preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held May 18, 2018 at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, Blooming Glen, PA with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Cherylyn Nicole Alderfer, 24, recently of Durango Colorado passed away on the afternoon of May 11, 2018. Cherylyn lost the battle with depression following recovery from a traumatic brain injury last year. Born November 15, 1993 in Denver, Colorado, she grew up in Pennsylvania with her father, Brent Alderfer, step-mother, Deirdre Alderfer and younger siblings, Aiden (13), Andrew (10), Aleesia (8) and Adeline Alderfer (5). She is also survived by paternal grandmother, Gladys (Henning) Alderfer, Souderton, PA, and two twin brothers, Lucas and Andre Greve (30), of Denver, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Cheryl D. Neufeld in 1995.
Cherylyn graduated from Westtown High School in West Chester, PA in 2012, and received her bachelor’s degree in eco-philosophy from Colorado College in 2016. She completed an exchange semester in Costa Rica in high school and service trips throughout her life to Bangladesh, Middle East, and Tanzania, Africa. Following college, she worked for two seasons at Soaring Treetop Adventures of Durango, Colorado, and co-taught special needs children at the local public school. Cherylyn had a passion for the outdoors and the beauty of nature and cycles of life. She hiked and camped, and enjoyed learning and teaching about trees and ecosystems, with a special affection for birds. She enjoyed music and dance, and created and enjoyed poetry, crafts and photography, particularly of the outdoors. She treasured strong friendships and family who remember her peaceful spirit and quick laugh.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial services for Cherylyn on: Friday, May 18, 2018 at 7PM Eastern Time at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, 713 Blooming Glen Road, Blooming Glen, PA, where family will receive friends from 5:30PM until 6:45PM, with food and sharing to follow the service, and Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11AM Mountain Time at Shove Chapel, 1010 N. Alderfer, Gladys Clemens Henning, 92, of Souderton, Montgomery Co., PA died August 1, 2018 at the same place. She was born July 25, 1926 at Harleysville, Montgomery Co., PA to Warren Rosenberger and EllaMae (Clemens) Henning. On March 28, 1948 at Harleysville she was married to Russell Landis Alderfer, who was born July 3, 1924 and died January 20, 2017.
Surviving are children, Audrey Alderfer (Phyllis Miller); Brent Alderfer (Deidre); Chris Carpenter (Steve); Doug Alderfer (Jim Taylor); Rick Alderfer; Gayle Alderfer Fisher (Larry); and son-in-law, Neil Benner; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert C. Henning, (Bea); and two sisters, Eleanor C. “Toot” Moyer, and Carol Mae Henning-Franzyck.
A daughter, G. Faye Alderfer Benner, and two granddaughters, Cherylyn Nicole Alderfer and Michelle Carpenter preceded her in death.

Alderfer, Harold A., 91, of Lansdale,Montgomery Co., PA died December 16, 2018 at the same place. He was born December 18, 1926 at Mainland, Montgomery Co., PA to Rein A. and Susan (Alderfer) Alderfer. On September 5, 1948 he was married to Ferne Gladys Hagey, who was born October 6, 1928 and survives.
Surviving are children, Betsy L. Moyer and husband J. Phillip; Sharon A. Rutter and husband Wayne; and Kenneth Alderfer and wife Martha; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Sanford Alderfer and (late) wife Evelyn.
His siblings, Jacob Alderfer, Ralph Alderfer, Allen Alderfer, Abram Alderfer, Caroline Alderfer, and Naomi Moyer preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held January 5, 2019 at Salford Mennonite Church, Harleysville, Montgomery Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Alderfer, Martha H., 100, of Souderton, Montgomery Co., PA died June 17, 2018 at the same place. She was born August 19, 1917 at Mainland, Montgomery Co., PA to Warren K. and Martha (Hendricks) Alderfer.
Surviving are a brother, Warren Alderfer; and three sisters, Mary Alderfer, Edith Clemmer, and Erma Rittenhouse.

Amstutz, Charles "Chuck"
March 22, 1954 - Feb. 15, 2018
ORRVILLE — Chuck Amstutz, 63, of Orrville, passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening, Feb. 15, 2018, in the emergency room of Aultman-Orrville Hospital.
He was born in Orrville on March 22, 1954, to the late Milton H. and Lina (Steiner) Amstutz and married Esther Unternahrer on Sept. 11, 1976. She survives.
Chuck worked for Robertson Heating Supply in Canton and attended Walnut Creek Mennonite Church, where he enjoyed teaching Sunday school.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his children, Mark (Nikita) Amstutz and Melody (Scott) Schlabach, both of Orrville; grandchildren, Kaleb, Kayla, Kyle, Oren and Pace; and a brother, Gene Amstutz of Orrville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael.
Memorial services will be Sunday at 7 p.m. at Kidron Mennonite Church, with pastors Don Hamsher and Carl Wiebe officiating. Family graveside services will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call today (Saturday) from 6-8 p.m. at the Fellowship Building of Kidron Mennonite Church.

Amstutz, Edith Horst, 90, of Dalton, passed away on Monday morning, September 17, 2018 at her home following a number of years of declining health.
Edith was born on October 25, 1927 to the late Homer and Zenna (Beery) Horst and was united in marriage to Paul Amstutz on April 26, 1951. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage.
She attended Dalton Schools and worked at Dalton Pottery prior to marriage.
In her youth she committed her life to the Lordship of Christ and was a faithful member of the County Line Mennonite Church.
In addition to her husband Paul, she is survived by 4 children, Elaine (Clarence) Steiner of Apple Creek, Tim (Rebecca) Amstutz of Dalton, Margaret (Lee) Lehman of Chambersburg, PA and Wilda (Elwood) Horst of North Lawrence; a daughter-in-law, Arlene (Homer) Amstutz of Dalton; 39 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; a sister, Wilma (Marion) Hoover; a sister-in-law, Mary (Byard) Horst; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Homer D. Amstutz in 2014; an infant brother, Maynard Horst; and brothers, Harold and Byard Horst.
Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the County Line Mennonite Church, 19199 Church Road, Dalton, with the church ministry officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Aschliman, Joyce Ellen, 66, of Archbold, Fulton Co., OH died November 28, 2018 at Wauseon, OH, after suffering a stroke.
She was born March 20, 1952 at Wauseon, Fulton Co., OH to Vernon (d. Aug. 12, 2010) and Alice (Stuckey) Aschliman (d. May 10, 2008).
Surviving are siblings, Reuben (Beverly) Aschliman, Stephen (Jan) Aschliman, Calvin (Annie Stewart) Aschliman, Mary Ann (Gary) Eastty, and Marlene (Dave) Bell.
A sister, Carolyn Aschliman preceded her in death.

Augsburger, Arleta Mae Kollath, 95, of Elida, OH died February 16, 2018 at Delphos, Allen Co., OH from alzheimer's disease. She was born February 10, 1923 at Seymour, WI. On October 26, 1946 at Seymour, WI she was married to Oren Augsburger, who was born November 6, 1924 and survives.
Surviving are children, Larry (Jeananne) Augsburger, Betty (Paul) Munn, and Janet (Paul) Burford; ten grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren.
During the Second World War, on many Sunday mornings, Arleta's family would stop along the road to offer a ride to a Mennonite Conscientious Objector farm worker, Oren Augsburger, who had to walk to town to attend worship services, and they were forced to sit together in the back seat of the car. Out of this forced togetherness, love grew, and they were married on October 26, 1946. In 1959 the family moved to Oren's home town of Elida, Ohio, where Arleta continued her life's work of being a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was also active in the life of Salem Mennonite Church where she was a faithful Sunday School teacher, song leader, housekeeper, women's group member, and friend to many.
It was in the early 2000s that family members began to recognize the onset of her dementia. The progress of the disease was slow, irresistible, devastating and total. She was admitted to Vancrest Nursing Home in February 2005, where she was lovingly and well-taken care of by the staff and by her faithful husband.
Memorial services were held March 3, 2018 at Salem Mennonite Church, Elida, OH with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Arleta Mae (Kollath) Augsburger
ELIDA — Arleta Mae (Kollath) Augsburger died at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, with her devoted and loving husband of 71 years at her side, after a very long process of decline precipitated by Alzheimer's Disease. She was born on the Kollath family farm just west of Seymour, Wisconsin, on February 10, 1923, the fourth and youngest child of Arthur and Estella (Thompson) Kollath. Arleta grew up a happy and content child on the farm, being raised by her own family and additionally loved and doted on by Everett and Grace McBain, a childless couple across the county road. She attended Crystal Springs one room school house for eight grades and graduated from Seymour High School in 1941. After graduation she continued to live at home while she worked at the office of the Seymour Progressive Farmer Cooperative.

She is survived by Oren, her husband of 71 years, son Larry (Jeananne) Augsburger, and daughters Betty (Paul) Munn and Janet (Paul) Burford, ten grandchildren and increasing numbers of great grandchildren.
Cremation has already happened and a memorial service of grieving and remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3 at Salem Mennonite Church. The family will greet friends for the hour preceding the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or to Salem Mennonite Church.

Auker, Martin R. "Marty", 84 of Liverpool died at home, Saturday, April 21, 2018. On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1985, he married the former Naomi M. Stauffer, who surives. The couple were married 32 years.
Martin was born Oct. 28, 1933, in Lancaster County. He was the son of the late Adam G. and Lizzie H. (Redcay) Auker.
Martin was a member of Stauffer's Old Order Mennonite Church-Riverview District.
In addition to his wife Naomi, Martin is survived by his five children, Steven Auker husband of Elsie, Anthony Auker husband of Maggie May, Matthew Auker, Malinda Auker, and James Auker; one brother, Aaron Auker husband of Annabelle; four sisters, Sue Martin, Ruth Auker, Annie Auker, and Sadie Auker; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William R. Auker and Paul R. Auker; one brother-in-law, Daniel B. Martin; and one grandson, Isaiah M. Auker.
Friends and family are invited for the viewings, Monday, from 1 to 3 p.m., and from 5 to 7 p.m. at the family home, 114 Pine Hill, Chapman Township, Liverpool.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. at the family home, with further services at 9 a.m. at Stauffer's Old Order Mennonite Church-Riverview District, Old Trail Road and Oriental Road, Liverpool.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Baba, Mary Hofer, 69, of Reedley, Fresno Co., CA died September 19, 2018 at the same place from cancer. She was born March 4, 1949 at Hanford, CA to Erwin and Doris Hofer.
Surviving are a son, James Pittman, four grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Heather Hofer preceded her in death.

Bachman, Arline M. Young, 88, of Hesston, Harvey Co., KS died February 17, 2018 at the same place. She was born November 2, 1929 at McPherson, KS to Harry and Anna Young. On January 1, 1950 she was married to Weldon "Bud" Bachman, who survives.
Surviving are children, Larry (Valerie) Bachman, and Randy (Shannon) Bachman, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a sister, Aline Bachman.
A son, Jerry Dean Bachman, a daughter, Vicki Lynette Bachman, a sister, Stella, and a brother, Wilbur preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held February 22, 2018 at Hesston Mennonite Church, Hesston, KS with burial in West Zion Cemetery, Moundridge, KS.
Baer, Beulah Nesselrodt, 95, wife of the late James Percy Baer, whom she married on Jan. 12, 1946, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Baer was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church. Spending time cooking for her family brought her much pleasure, and Mrs. Baer will be remembered for her love of family, friends and caring nature.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1922, in Fort Seybert, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late John Floyd Nesselrodt and Nannie B. Myers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three infant brothers and two sisters, Thelma Vandevander and Shirley Whetzel. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Wimer and husband, Jerry, and Helen Kuykendall and husband, Leon; a son, David Baer and his late wife, Carolyn; her loving grandchildren, Terry Kuykendall, Kevin Wimer, Jason Kuykendall, Danny Kuykendall and Jeff Marks; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Baer’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, W.Va. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Hartzler officiating. Interment will be in the Nesselrodt Family Cemetery in Fort Seybert, W.Va.
Baker, Floy E. Wenger, 89, of Denver, died on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Fairmount Homes after a brief illness. She was born in Bareville to the late Amon G. and Esther V. (Zuck) Wenger and was the wife of the late Norman L. Baker who passed away in 2002.
Floy graduated from Upper Leacock High School in 1946 and was employed by New Holland Machine Company as a secretary until her marriage in 1952. >From 1971-1988 she worked at the former SLC sewing factory in Terre Hill and Blue Ball. Norman and Floy also farmed together for 50 years. She was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church and active in the sewing circle. Floy enjoyed scrapbooking, crocheting, sewing, reading, growing flowers, watching the birds, and playing table games. She was a faithful friend and prayer warrior.
She is survived by five children: Carolyn married to John Herr, New Holland; John married to Suzanne (Horning) Baker, Mohnton; Beverly married to Linford Weaver, Reinholds; Gerald married to Dawn (Musser) Baker, Ferryville, WI; and Ray married to Cheryl (Martin) Baker, Soldiers Grove, WI; a son-in-law Clair Weaver, Winchester, TN; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four foster great-grandchildren; four siblings: Clyde Wenger married to Shirley (Hauck), Strasburg; Lloyd Wenger married to Wilma (Espenshade), Leola; Jay Wenger married to Leah (Achenbach), Akron; Elaine married to Thomas Giorgio, Lancaster; and a sister-in-law Nancy (Smith) Wenger.
In addition to her husband, Floy was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Weaver; granddaughter, Carla Herr; grandson, James Weaver; and two siblings, Ruth Kreider and Earl Wenger.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21, at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl, PA. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family. Balzer, Pauline Anna Schroeder, 95, of Whitewater, KS died May 22, 2018 at Newton, Harvey Co., Kansas. She was born February 10, 1923 at Mountain Lake, Minnesota to David H. and Helena (Peters) Schroeder. On August 10, 1943 at Mountain Lake she was married to Raymond Balzer , who is deceased.
Surviving are children, David (Donna) Balzer, Kaye (Arlie) Schroeder; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Edna Nickel.
Two brothers, Menno Schroeder, and Robert Schroeder, and a sister, Louise Balzer preceded her in death.

Bauman, Lester Brubaker

GOSHEN - Lester Brubaker Bauman, 86, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at Green House Village.
He was born Oct. 11, 1932, in Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada, to Henry and Rebecca (Brubaker) Bauman.
On June 8, 1957, he married Carol Bauman in Ontario. She died Sept. 7, 2017.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte (Ritch) Hochstetler of Elkhart and Phyllis (Kenton) Bontrager of Reistertown, Maryland; three grandchildren, Leslie (Tyler) Huston, Austin Hochstetler and Ian Bontrager; and three great-grandchildren, Emma, Wyatt and Laney Huston.
Along with his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by a brother, Orton Bauman, and a sister, Clara Groff.
Lester was a servant, serving the church for more than 50 years as a pastor in Canada and New York state. He was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church where he served on the pastoral visitation team. Before his illness he enjoyed special times with family, reading and watching sports, especially hockey.
Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 15, from 2:30 p.m. until the 3:30 p.m. memorial service at Waterford Mennonite Church.
Memorial gifts may be given to Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Elkhart.
Bechtel, Jay, 76, of Valparaiso, IN died December 30, 2018 at the same place from ALS. He was born February 5, 1942 at Kitchener, Ontario, Canada to Elmer L. and Mildred (Reynolds) Bechtel. On August 23, 1964 at Kouts, IN he was married to Pat Sutter, who was born December 13, 1942 and survives.
Surviving are a daughter, Lora, married to Nick Kokot; two grandchildren, Kristina and Nick; and four sisters, Melva Sanders, Eva Miller, Arlene Hartsough, and Pauline Graff.
Memorial services were held January 5, 2019 at Hopewell Mennonite Church, Kouts IN with Minister, Joel Short of the church and burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Valerie Bechtel, age 23, of Marlette, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018. She was born July 21, 1994 in Marlette.
She is survived by her parents, Arthur and Delores Bechtel, of Marlette. Her sisters and brothers: Janelle (Michael) Reinford, Jerold (Joanna) Bechtel, Lacretia (Burnell) Oberholtzer, Donna (Lyle) Mast, Lamar, Devlin, Richard, Ruth, and Larry Bechtel. Her grandmother, Ruth Bechtel. Thirteen nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Beery, Frances Priscilla, 58, of Bridgewater, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018, at her home.
She was born in Harrisonburg on Aug. 19, 1959, and was a daughter of the late Daniel and Priscilla (Rodes) Beery.
Frances graduated from Piedmont Community College of Nursing and had worked at the University of Virginia Medical Intensive Care Unit, Rockingham Memorial Hospital acute dialysis and Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was a member of the various Lupus Chapters, past member of the Association of Critical Care Nurses, and Virginia Nurses Association. She attended New Beginnings Church as she was able.
Frances is survived by two sisters, Josie B. (William) Sale of Bridgewater and Elva B. (Kent) Miller of Monterey; four brothers, Daniel P. (Mollie) Beery of Mount Crawford, Frank A. (Betty) Beery of Mount Crawford, Charles L. (Edith) Beery of Mount Sidney, and Ellis S. (Donna) Beery of Mount Crawford. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a number of aunts and uncles.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Mennonite Church Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at Pike Mennonite Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2018.

Beery, Mary Frances, 82, of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Sentara RMH Medical Center.
Miss Beery was born on April 25, 1935 in Rushville, and was a daughter of the late Ward Edward and Mary Amelia (Showalter) Beery Sr. Her occupation as a quilting instructor allowed her to pass her talent and passion for scrap piecing on to many people.
She is survived by her siblings, Joseph Beery, Wilda Beery, Ada Rodes and husband Noah, Anna Rohrer, Ward Beery and wife Sadie; in-laws, Frank Rohrer, Mary Beery; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Beery was preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth Shirk and husband Christ, David Beery, Mabel Knicely and husband David, Daniel Beery and wife Priscilla, Hettie Rohrer, Emory Beery; in-laws, Wilda Beery and Fred Rohrer.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 27, 2018 at 10 am at Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Beiler, Katie Stoltzfus, 98, died peacefully surrounded by her loving children in her Lancaster home on April 8, 2018. Born in Morgantown, Penna., she was the oldest child of Stephen E. and Barbara B. Stoltzfus, and sister to Melinda Stoltzfus, Annie (John M.) Stoltzfus, Savilla (Jacob) Stoltzfus, Sadie (Melvin) Smoker and Ben O. (Miriam) Stoltzfus. In addition to her parents and siblings, she is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Christian Fisher Beiler, their infant daughter Anna Mary, son John Ivan Beiler and granddaughter Darlene Beiler. Katie and Chris raised ten children together, moving from Honey Brook, PA to Kent County, Maryland in 1954 where they farmed for more than 25 years. They helped start and build Lake View Mennonite Church. They were active members of Gideons International and positively influenced many children and neighbors through their faith and acts of kindness.
Katie is survived by her children Barbara (Karl) Stoltzfus of Bridgewater, VA; Ben (Janet) Beiler of Cochranville, PA; Sadie (Dale) High, Miriam Beiler, Verna Beiler, and Kae (Dwight) Wagner of Lancaster, PA; Steve Beiler of North East, MD; Shirley (Sherrard) Holland of Glade Hill, VA and Calvin Beiler of West Grove, PA; and daughter-in-law Shirley Smoker Beiler, Dover, DE.
"Grandma B" loved and enjoyed time with her grandchildren and their families: Karl Jr., Michelle (Moyer) and Michael Stoltzfus; Jen (Carl), Anthony and Kristine Beiler; Clayton and LeVerne David Beiler; Christopher and Oliver Horst; Tyler and Holland Beiler; Gabe and Kate Groshong; Kettie (Rupnik) and John Will Holland; and Cali (Radcliff). In addition, she was blessed with 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Always industrious and generous, Katie will be remembered for the beautiful quilts she gifted to charity, her children and grandchildren; her large productive meals for community and family gatherings; her bountiful garden; and her heart of service. She served as a volunteer for Hospice, Mennonite Central Committee, Ridgeview Mennonite Church (where she was a member, leader and teacher) 4-H, Meals On Wheels and Gideons International. She was a life time learner; reading, traveling and taking classes over the years. She cherished her times with family and friends, playing board games and listening to sacred music. Her unending devotion to her faith, family and her commitment to her children's education will always be remembered.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, April 13th from 6 – 8 pm at Ridgeview Mennonite Church, 3723 Ridge Road, Gordonville, PA 17529. A celebration of Katie's life will be held on Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 am at the church with lunch to follow in the fellowship hall. A private family burial will be held.

Born in Gordonville, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Rachel Smoker Esh. She was the wife of the late Crist Stoltzfus who died in 1979 and the late Omer Beiler who died in 1999. Lena was a homemaker and a member of the Weavertown Amish-Mennonite Church.

Nelson R. Blessing, 70, of New Holland passed away on Sunday, May 6th, 2018, at Lancaster General Hospital.
He was born in Lancaster to the late George and Mazie (Hackman) Blessing and was the husband of Susan (Hess) Blessing.
Nelson served in the US Army at Ft. Carson, CO, and worked for Penn Dairies and Acme Distribution. He enjoyed ballroom dancing and served on the board of Lancaster USA Dance. He loved his family, trains and volunteering at Landis Homes, Lititz Meals On Wheels and at Akron Mennonite Church where he was a member.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Blessing; a daughter, Natalie, wife of Robert Schaeffer of Ephrata; a son, Nelson R. Blessing, Jr. of Brunnerville; 2 step-sons, Michael Hurst, of New Holland, Steven, husband of Hazell Hurst of Holly Springs, NC; a step-daughter, Christina, wife of Karl Dirks of Elizabethtown; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Demmer of Ephrata; 5 step-grandchildren, Brianna, Cody, Sofia and Noah Hurst, Owen Dirks and a sister, Shirley Harkinis of Mt. Blosser, Mabellee Shank, 94, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Sentara RMH Medical Center. She had been a longtime resident of Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community (VMRC). Mabellee was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Rockingham County, Va., to the late Wilmer Paul Sr. and Mary Rhodes Shank.
On Aug. 8, 1944, she married Sanford Daniel Blosser, who preceded her in death April 24, 1996. For many years Mabellee and Sanford operated their family dairy farm in Rockingham County.
Mabellee was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Family, both immediate and extended, was important to her. She always showed love and concern for others, bringing joy to those around her. She was a member of Weavers Mennonite Church.
Surviving family include her two sons, Carroll S. Blosser and wife, Erma, and Arlan L. Blosser and wife, Karen, all of Rockingham; five grandchildren, Melanie Eby, Maretta Yoder (Mike), Daniel Blosser (Deborah), Ryan Blosser (Natasha), and Lindsey Shantz (Tim); 13 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Norman Shank, Rawley Shank and Wilmer Shank Jr. In addition to her husband and parents, Mabellee was preceded in death by siblings, Floyd Shank and Gladys Harman.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in Detwiler Auditorium at VMRC with Wendell “Sonny” Henkel officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.

Bollinger, Galen S., 89, of Fredericksburg, beloved dad and grandpa, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at the StoneRidge Towne Centre in Myerstown. He was the husband of the late Anna Mary Nolt Bollinger.
Born in Clay Twp., on September 15, 1928, he was the son of the late Alvin K. and Mary E. Smith Bollinger. He was an 8th generation farmer and for 66 years, he was a lifelong farmer on their Forest Drive Farm, supplying his milk to Wengert's Dairy. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Road Church of the Brethren, where he served as Deacon Emeritus. Galen was a member of the Farm Bureau, Young Farmers and several other farm organizations. He was a charter member of the Stony Brook Hunting Camp. He had served on the board at Agway and for the Northern Lebanon School District. When he was 18, he was a "sea-going cowboy" for the Heifer Project and helped with the transport of 1500 horses from Newport News, NY to Gdynia, Poland.
He is survived by his son G. Lamar Bollinger of Fredericksburg; daughters Barbara wife of William Cleveland of Wellsboro, Brenda wife of Scott Kunkle of Shillington, Bonnie Bollinger of Fredericksburg and Beverly wife of David Shirk of Fredericksburg; grandchildren Terri wife of Ethan Hornsby, Bryan Cleveland, Renee and Douglas Kunkle, and Jennifer and Darrin Shirk.

Bollinger, Janet Darlene Wenger, 91, of Harrisonburg, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Sentara RMH Medical Center. Mrs. Bollinger was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Lewis Jacob and Ethel Irene (Showalter) Wenger.
She was a longtime member of Weavers Mennonite Church. Janet worked for Mennonite Broadcasting until her retirement in 1979. She crocheted prayer shawls for the Sentara RMH Cancer Center. Mrs. Bollinger enjoyed spending time with her family and baby-sat her grandchildren.
On Oct. 12, 1946, she married Paul Bollinger, who preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 2006.
She is survived by her children, Phyllis Branner and husband, Lanny, of Harrisonburg, Steven Bollinger and wife, Rebecca, of Richmond, Michael Bollinger of Stanleytown, Va., Joetta Warring and husband, John, of Mesa, Ariz., Gail Anderson and husband, Gary, of Salem, Va., Edward Bollinger and wife, Kimberly, of Harrisonburg; one brother, William Wenger and wife, Margaret, of Harrisonburg; one sister, Pauline Nice of Newport News, Va.; sister-in-law, Mary Wenger; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildre, two great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and her special friend, Sharon Smith. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bollinger was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Wenger, and a sister, Geneva Brunk.

She was born June 28, 1929, to Levi J. and Mary (Mast) Eash.
She married Levi E. Bontrager; he died Oct. 12, 2016.
Surviving are sons Daniel, David, Samuel, Ervin, Melvin, Ray and Earl Bontrager; daughters Esther Hochstetler, Freda Zehr, Wilma Miller, Mary Chupp and Irene Schmucker; 56 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; and sisters Esther Bontrager and Edna Lehman.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stillborn son, Perry Bontrager; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers.

HOWE - Allen A. Bontrager, 89, of Howe, died Sunday, April 1, 2018.
He was born May 26, 1928, to Abe D. and Silva H. Bontrager.
He married Mary M. Beachy; she preceded him in death. He then married Fanny Mae Nissley; she preceded him in death in 2017.
Surviving are nine daughters Elmina A., Nada A., Lorene A., Mary A., Minerva, Martha A., Malinda A., Ellen A. and Elizabeth A.; son Melvin A. Bontrager; 43 grandchildren; sisters Wilma Glazener and Miriam Warren; and brothers Dewey and Ralph Bontrager.
Along with his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Elnora A. Bontrager; and a son, Elson Lee Bontrager.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, at the family residence, 6425 N – 100 W, Howe.

She was born June 17, 1944, to Fred S. and Fannie (Hostetler) Otto.
She married Levi E. A. Bontrager. He survives, as well as daughters, Bertha Miller, Judith Harshberger, Wanda Bontrager, Jo Anna Bontrager and Sharon Graber; sons LaVern Bontrager, David, John and Maynard Bontrager; 49 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Martha Miller; half sister, Betty Yoder; half brother Floyd Otto; and two half sisters-in-law, Katie Otto and Nancy Otto.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, two half sisters and three half-brothers.
Visitation will be all day Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Glen Bontrager residence, 13234 C.R. 34, Goshen.

He married Hazel Ann Yoder; she survives.
Also surviving are daughters Wanita Jane (Louis) Showers, Patricia Ann (Jack) Rogers and Evelyn (Ron) Elenbaas; sons Ronald Lee (Sharon) and Bill Bontrager; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister Rosa Troyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Anna Rugg; brother Levi Bontrager; two half brothers; one half sister; and a great-grandson, Phillip Estes.

He was born March 3, 1927, in Shipshewana, to Manas and Elizabeth (Miller) Bontrager.
He married Anna Wingard, she survives.
Survivors also are Amanda Skaggs, Wilma Chupp, Betty Helmuth, and Doris Miller; 10 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; brothers, Mahlon, Manas Jr., Levi, and Joni Bontrager; and sisters Mandy Yoder, Neomah Bontrager, Betty Wingard and Edna Yoder.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson; a brother; and a sister.

Ervin W. Bontrager, 86, of Topeka, died at 1:22 am, on Wednesday, November 14, at his winter residence in Sarasota, FL. He was born on August 27, 1932, in LaGrange County, to William J. and Ada E. (Miller) Bontrager. On October 20, 1955 in LaGrange County he married Martha Ellen Miller; she died October 27, 2011.
Surviving are a niece, Inez (Norman) Yutzy of Topeka; special friends, Steve (Elaine) Jones of Topeka; 37 nieces and nephews; four sisters, Anna Kauffman and Mattie Bontrager both of LaGrange, Emma (Daniel) Beechy and Ada Bontrager both of Topeka; brother, Enos (Anna Marie) Bontrager of Shipshewana; two sisters-in-law, Mattie Bontrager of Dalton, WI and Joan Bontrager of Shipshewana. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three brothers, Elmer, Amos, and Daniel Bontrager. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

She was born May 12, 1918, in Kenmare, North Dakota, to Alpha and Alma (Nusbaum) Kauffman.
On Nov. 10, 1940, in Emma Mennonite Church, she married Howard Greenawalt; he died Dec. 27, 1971. On Dec. 19, 1979, in Emma Mennonite Church, she married Orvan Bontrager; he died Dec. 10, 2004.
Surviving are daughter Jane (Joe) Farrell of Goshen; son Fred (Delores) Greenawalt of Goshen; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; brother Harold Kauffman of Wisconsin; stepson Marion Bontrager of Goshen; and numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both her husbands; parents; six brothers, Chauncey, Andrew, Mark, Ezra, Menno, and Noah Kauffman; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Albrecht and Mildred Wideman; and two stepsons, Maynard and Devon Bontrager.
She was a homemaker and a member of Emma Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She enjoyed quilting, gardening and volunteering.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 18, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, June 19, at Emma Mennonite Church, 1900 S. C.R. 600W, Topeka.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Gene Hartman.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Topeka.

MIDDLEBURY - Fannie Bontrager, 86, of Middlebury, died at 11:31 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, at Miller’s Merry Manor, LaGrange, with her sons by her side.
She was born Jan. 2, 1932, in Chouteau, Oklahoma, to Tobe and Lizzie (Miller) Troyer.
On Jan. 31, 1953, in Elkhart County, she married Harry Bontrager; he died Oct. 18, 1984.
Surviving are two sons, Jim (Charlotte) Bontrager and Steven (Shelley) Bontrager, both of Middlebury; three grandchildren, Aaron (Ellie) Bontrager, Jordan Bontrager and Myra Bontrager; five sisters, Katie Miller of Goshen, Edna Miller of Middlebury, Iva Miller of Shipshewana, Verna Miller and Dorothy (Gene) Yoder, both of Topeka; and brother Toby (Ann) Troyer of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four sisters, Mary Bontrager, Lydia Drury, Edith Schwartz, and Lorene Burkholder; and two brothers, Bill Troyer and Mose Troyer.
She was a member of First Mennonite Church of Middlebury and enjoyed Bible reading, visiting people, feeding birds and working on puzzles.
She was a homemaker and retired after 12 years from Northridge High School as a custodian.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, and for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Monday, Aug. 6, at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Sam Troyer.
Burial will be in Ivans Cemetery, Middlebury.

SHIPSHEWANA - Freda A. Bontrager, 70, of Shipshewana, died Sunday, April 15, 2018.
She was born June 24, 1947, to Andy J. and Katie Schrock.
She married Elva I. Bontrager, he survives.
Survivors also are daughters Esther Bontrager and Amanda Coblentz; sons David, Ervin, Andy, Ammon, Daniel and Eli Bontrager; 47 grandchildren; sisters Edith Schmucker, Wilma and Amanda Beechy, Mary Bontrager, Ada Schrock, Clara Bontrager and Miriam Hershberger; brothers David, Ervin, Mervin, Daniel and Jacob Schrock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Miriam Bontrager; and a sister.
Visitation will be all day Tuesday, April 17 at the family residence, 0250 S. S.R. 5, Shipshewana.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, at the Laverne E. Bontrager residence, 0700 S. S.R. 5, Shipshewana.

She was born at 6:23 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018.
Surviving in addition to her parents are grandparents, Robert and Wanda Schmucker of Goshen, and Mary Ellen Bontrager of Middlebury; great-grandparents,Vernon and Edna Schmucker of Goshen, David and Linda Bontrager of Middlebury, and Eli and Elizabeth Miller of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, David L. Bontrager.

Leland E. Bontrager, 44, of Shipshewana, died at 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 11 at his residence following a brief battle with cancer. He was born on December 2, 1973 in LaGrange, to Ervin S. and Ida Mae (Miller) Bontrager. On June 2, 1994 in LaGrange, he married Doris Weaver, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are three daughters, Darla Mae, Velda Kay (special friend DeWayne Miller), Erma Elaine; three sons, Devon Lee, Leon Ray, Gary Lynn all at home; five sisters, Leanna (Marvin) Shrock of LaGrange, Ruby Mae (Marion) Nisley of Goshen, Mary Sue (Gerald) Bontrager of Ligonier, Miriam (Lonnie) Yoder of LaGrange, Lorene (Orvan) Bontrager of Ligonier; six brothers, Lavern (Miriam) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Samuel (Leanna) Bontrager of Topeka, Orla (Christina) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Floyd (Sue Anna) Bontrager of LaGrange, Leroy (Esther) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Ervin (Wilma) Bontrager Jr. of Topeka; step grandmother, Miriam Bontrager of Wolcottville. He was a farmer and wood shop owner and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

GOSHEN - Lydia J. Bontrager, 88, of Goshen, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018.
She was born July 31, 1929, in Centreville, Michigan, to Jacob and Susan (Miller) Bontrager.
She married Clarence Bontrager; he survives.
Survivors also are daughters Evelyn (Ralph) Harshbarger and Miriam Bontrager; sons Mervin and Devon (Katherine) Bontrager; nine grandchildren; sisters Fannie Hochstetler and Katie Bontrager; brother Albert Bontrager; and sister-in-law Mary Bontrager.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Glen Ray Bontrager and brother Eli Bontrager.
She attended Salem Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11 and for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Monday, Feb. 12, all at Salem Mennonite Church, New Paris.

Bontrager, Malinda J. Borkholder, age 89, of Bremen, died unexpectedly Friday, December 7, 2018 at 8:58 a.m. at Elkhart General Hospital after a short illness. She was born March 11, 1929 at home in Bremen to John and Sarah (Miller) Borkholder. On December 25, 1952 she married Mahlon L. Bontrager. He preceded her in death June 1, 2004. MaLinda was a lifetime area resident. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Irma Jean (Orvan) Lambright, Shipshewana; sons, Mahlon Lee (Sarah) Bontrager, Nappanee, John Ray (Karen) Bontrager, Shipshewana, Leroy (Sue) Bontrager, Bremen; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene (Eli) Lehman, Milford, Ruby (Albert) Yoder, Bourbon; brothers, Eli (Clara) Borkholder, Bremen, John Henry (Rosanna) Borkholder, and Eddie (Elnora) Borkholder, both of Nappanee, Larry (Etta) Borkholder, Milford; and sister-in-laws, Sharon Borkholder-Schrock, Edna Borkholder, Mary Ellen Borkholder. She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Katie Yoder; and brothers, Roman, Leroy, Gilbert, and Tobias Borkholder.

ELKHART - Marcia E. Bontrager, 90, of Elkhart, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born July 14, 1927, in Rochester, to Norman and Amelia (Behney) Baldwin.
On Nov. 11, 1950, she married Edward E. Bontrager.
He survives along with nine children, Dottie (Gail) Groves of Goshen, Diana (Gary) Cook of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Darlene (Steve) Fanning of Shipshewana, Deborah L. (Vern) Bontrager of Elkhart, Denise (Russell) Jensen of Fort Wayne, Deloris (Craig) Gibson of South Bend, Edward (Tami) Bontrager, II of Warsaw, Donna (Tim) Miller of Tucson, Arizona and Dorene (Merle) Zook of Mount Sidney, Virginia; 28 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Ganshorn, a brother, Norman Baldwin II, and a grandson, Anthony Zook.
Marcia was a member of Belmont Mennonite Church where she served as an elder and was active in the Mother’s Club and prayer group.
She worked as a supervisor at Miles Laboratories, Elkhart.
Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Belmont Mennonite Church, 925 Oxford St., Elkhart, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service.
Her son-in-law, Pastor Russell Jensen, will officiate.
A private family burial will follow the service in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.

GOSHEN - Mary Ellen Bontrager, 81, died Friday, June 15, 2018, at home.
She was born June 1, 1937, in Shipshewana to Jacob and Sarah (Yoder) Kropf.
On Jan. 28, 1962, she married David F. Bontrager.
He survives along with three sons, DeWayne (Annette) Bontrager, Goshen, Kenneth (Heather) Bontrager, Nappanee, and Linford (Wanda) Bontrager, Goshen; a daughter, Frances (Mervin) Miller, Goshen; nine grandchildren, Michaela, Kylee, Emilee, Brock, Luke, Scot and Stuart Bontrager, and Miranda and Sierra Miller; three sisters, Dorothy (Vernon) Thomas, Middlebury, and Norma Schrock and LaVerda (Devon) Bechtel, both of Goshen; a brother, Omer (Sue) Kropf, Syracuse, and a sister-in-law, Lorene Kropf, Goshen.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Orvin Kropf.
Mrs. Bontrager was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved taking care of her family.
A homemaker, Mrs. Bontrager helped on the family farm, Rolling Acres. She loved the Lord and was a member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church where she was involved with the sewing group. An avid quilter, she made a quilt for each of her grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, and 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mount Joy Mennonite Church. Pastor Ben Shirk will officiate.
Burial will follow in Miller 8 Square Cemetery.

SHIPSHEWANA - Robert Wayne Bontrager, 87, of Shipshewana, died Sunday, April 8, 2018, at his residence.
He was born July 31, 1930, to Amos T. and Grace (Miller) Bontrager.
He married Harriet Marie Blosser, she survives.
Survivors also are two daughters, Sandi (Martin) Harnish and Janice Bontrager; son Bruce (Natalie) Bontrager; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister Mary Jo (Lloyd) Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Phillip Bontrager; brother Maurice Bontrager and infant sister, Marilee Ann Bontrager.
Visitation will be from 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday April 11, at Emma Mennonite Church, Topeka.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, also at the church.

Miriam L. Bontreger, 91 of Goshen died Monday, June 18, 2018 at Greencroft Goshen Healthcare, where she had been since Jan. 2017.
She was born Feb. 14, 1927 in Goshen to Maynard and Mandella (Bachtel) Hoover.
On June 1, 1945 she married Vernon E. Bontreger at her home. Rev. Ira S. Johns officiated. They were married 72 years before Vernon’s death in Aug. 2017.
Survivors include six sons, Cecil J. (June) Bontreger of Goshen, John D. (Cindi) Bontreger of Fishers, Charles E. Bontreger and Jason P. (Linda) Bontreger, both of Goshen, Mark E. Bontreger of Watertown, South Dakota and Wesley J. (Cheryl) Bontreger of Goshen; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Hoover, Glen Flora, Wisconsin; and two sisters, Lucile Chupp, Elkhart and Ruth (Dale) Patton, New Paris.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Lowell, Norman and Donald Hoover; and two sisters, Edith Johns and Arlene Hershberger.
Miriam was a loving homemaker and wonderful hostess. She and Vernon enjoyed hosting many Bethany Christian School students in their home and working in their garden. She was an avid reader and enjoyed embroidery and making quilts for the MCC Relief Sale.
Along with raising her family she worked as a secretary in the Goshen College Alumni Office and helped as church secretary at Clinton Frame Church during her husband’s tenure.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Clinton Frame Church, 63846 C.R. 35, Goshen, and from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018 prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service also at the church.
Burial will follow at Clinton Frame Cemetery, Goshen.

Book, Zelma Zigler, 96, of Sterling, Whiteside Co., IL died December 19, 2018 at Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois. She was born November 19, 1922 at Waupun, Dodge Co., Wisconsin to John and Catherine (Wulf) Zigler. On June 15, 1941 at Sterling, IL she was married to Orrin D. Book, who died December 6, 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia McNinch and Judy (Cliff) Bailey; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Beverly Goodman and June Connelly.
Three brothers, David Welker, Daniel Welker, and Gerald Zigler, and a sister, Jean Gipson preceded her in death.

Borkholder, Alvin D., age 76, of Nappanee, died at 2:00 am, Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, where he had been a patient since Wednesday. He was born July 2, 1941 in Nappanee to Daniel J. and Emma (Coblentz) Borkholder.
Mr. Borkholder was a lifetime resident of Nappanee. He was a retired farmer and a Bishop in the Old Order Amish Church.
On November 29, 1962, he married Ruth Ann Schwartz. She survives along with their children, Marlin A. (Kristina) Borkholder, Steven A. (Waneta) Borkholder, James A. (Carrie) Borkholder, Rachel A. (Michael) Hostetler, David Lee (Vonda) Borkholder, Mark A. (Roseann) Borkholder, Rebecca A. (James) Hochstetler, all of Nappanee, Edward Ray (Diana) Borkholder, Floyd A. Bowman, Anna Mary Becker, 97, of Lititz, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, September 16, 2018 at Luther Acres in Lititz. Born in Warwick Twp., Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Minnie S. Graybill Becker. She was the wife of the late Warren M. Bowman who died in 1999 after 51 years of marriage.
A homemaker, Anna Mary was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Rothsville where she taught children's Sunday school classes in her younger years. She was a 1938 graduate of the former Rothsville High School. In addition to volunteering her time at her church, at Luther Acres, and with the Lititz Meals-on-Wheels, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, embroidery, and reading.
She is survived by two children, Joyce, wife of Dave Klase, of Bedford, and Jay, husband of Rachel Myer Bowman, of Manheim; son-in-law, Greg Ecenrode of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Jerald Ecenrode, Jeffrey Ecenrode, Anna (Nathan) Stoltzfus, and Jonathan Bowman; and two great granddaughters, Sadie Ecenrode and Natalie Stoltzfus. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Ecenrode; and three siblings, Arnold Becker, Graybill Becker, and Leah Painter.
A funeral service will be held on Friday morning, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 36 Church Street, Lititz, PA with Pastor Bonnie M. Oplinger officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Bowman, Robert L., 92, of Lancaster, PA, died peacefully at Evergreen Estates on Monday, December 31, 2018. Born in Lancaster, he was the husband of the late Thelma Howe Bowman who passed away in August of 1994. He was the son of the late Luther and Kathryn Sensenig Bowman.
Bob worked at Case New Holland for 21 years working as a night watchman and custodian, retiring in 1991. He was formerly a member of Charlotte Street Mennonite Church, enjoyed antique cars, country music, driving and reading the newspaper. He was also a professional boxer in Lancaster.
Robert is survived by two daughters, Nevada S., wife of Michael A. Kirchner, Lancaster, and Althea, wife of Jerry McKonly, Newport Richey, Florida; son in law, Larry A., husband of Geovanni Harrison, Lititz, PA and a sister, Faye King, Harrisonburg, VA; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Bowman, and a daughter, Charlene Harrison.

He worked as Executive Director of Adams Co. Mental Health Center in Quincy, IL before being recruited to Kansas to serve as Executive Director of Johnson County Mental Health Center. He also worked in the private sector developing behavioral health programs before retiring in 1995. Hal held elected offices in state and national behavioral health organizations.
He attended Rainbow Mennonite Church in Kansas City, KS, where a gathering of friends will be held at 2 p.m. April 4. In place of flowers, Hal wished any memorials to go to National Foundation for Parkinson's or National Federation of Societies for Clinical Social Work.

Harold "Hal" Boyts died Thursday (March 28, 2018) in Hesston.
Born in 1936 in Harper, Hal called Overland Park his home for 44 years. He married Bernita Martin of Wellman, Iowa, Dec. 22, 1955. Hal was proud of his family and their various contributions to this world. Surviving are his daughter, Michelle, of Winfield; sons Michael (Cindy Hoedel) of Matfield Green and Eric (Mary) of Laporte, Colorado; and grandchildren Nicholas Boyts of Lenexa and Claire Boyts of Kansas City, Kansas and their mother, Catherine Boyts of Lenexa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernita, his parents, Earl and Marie Boyts, and brothers, James and Philip.
Hal graduated from Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana in 1959 and from University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1961. He did post-graduate work at the University of Chicago and University of Kansas. He began his career in mental health in Quincy, Illinois, eventually working for three years as Executive Director of Adams Co. Mental Health Center. In 1967, Hal was recruited to serve as Executive Director of Johnson County Mental Health Center, where he worked for 17 years. During that time he also consulted for the National Institute of Mental Health in the development of other mental health centers in Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri. That work was followed by 11 years in the private sector developing and promoting behavioral health programs; he retired in 1995.
Hal was active in professional organizations and held elected offices in numerous state and national organizations related to behavioral health services. He held Protestant Anabaptist beliefs and attended Rainbow Mennonite Church while living in Overland Park. A gathering of friends and relatives will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday (April 3, 2018) at Hesston Mennonite Church.
In place of flowers, Hal wished any memorials to be directed to the National Foundation for Parkinson's, including the Heart of America Chapter in Overland Park, Adams County Mental Health Assoc., in Quincy, Illinois, or the National Federation of Societies for Clinical Social Work.
Brenneman, Elizabeth L. Mast, 87, of Brenneman Road, Lancaster, died on Monday, January 1, 2018 at LGH after an illness. She was the wife of Paul K. Brenneman. They were married on July 16, 1960.
Born July 22, 1930, in Chester County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac C. and Lydia (Stoltzfus) Mast. She attended the Lyndon Mennonite Church, Lancaster. Elizabeth enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four children; Merlin J. Brenneman, of Lancaster, C. Joy married to Steve VanPelt, of Lancaster, Nevin M. Brenneman married to Darisa (Heller), of Lititz and E. Rose married to John A. Avers, of Celina, OH; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three brothers; Wilmer, Samuel and John Mast.

Brenneman, M. Jane Hershey, 76, of New Danville, Lancaster, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, April 28, 2018 at Fairmount Homes, Ephrata, where she was a guest for 8 days. As a Christian, Jane is now home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was the wife of Clair K. Brenneman for forty-six years. They were married on June 26, 1971.
Jane was a homemaker, farm-wife and mother, most recently known as working with the family business, "The Corn Wagon" on Route 741 in New Danville. Earlier in life, she had worked for Shenk's Cup Cheese, and stood at the Central Market deli stand for Vernon Miller.
Born June 10, 1941, in Conestoga Twp., she was the daughter of the late Park R. and Edna H. (Thomas) Hershey. Jane was a lifetime member of the New Danville Mennonite Church and Sunday School. At the church, Jane also served as teacher's aide in the younger children's Sunday School Class. She attended New Danville Mennonite School and Lancaster Mennonite High School. In the early 1960's, Jane had done Voluntary Service in Homestead, FL caring for migrant children while their parents worked in the fields. She also baked delicious pies and cookies that her mother would sell at her Central Market stand.
Also surviving in addition to her husband, Clair, are her two sons; Jay M., married to Linda J. (Livengood) Brenneman and D. Ray, married to Lynette R. (Leaman) Brenneman, all of Lancaster; four grandchildren; Ryan, Maria, Ashlyn and Sarah and three siblings; David T. Hershey, of Manheim, Jean Witmer, of Lititz and Lois B. Hershey, of Lancaster. She was also preceded in death by sister; Anna Mary Hershey (1942).

Brubacher, Emma Horst, 94, of St. Jacobs, Ontario, Canada died February, 6, 2018 at Kitchener, Waterloo Co., Ontario. She was born March 7, 1923 to Menno and Lovina (Bauman) Horst. On August 26, 1944 at St. Jacobs she was married to Raymond Brubacher, who was born December 22, 1921 and died April 27, 1999.
Surviving are children, Carolyn (Jim) Carr; Sandra (Guenther) Mohr; Don (Jayne) Brubacher; Bruce (Sue) Brubacher; and Mark (Cynthia) Brubacher; eleven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.

Brubaker, Arlene G. Graybill, 94, of McAlisterville, passed away at 1:32 a.m. Sunday, July 22, 2018, at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
She was born Aug. 7, 1923, in McAlisterville, Juniata County, a daughter the late Everett and Vera (Shelley) Graybill. On April 25, 1943, she was married to Lester L. Brubaker, with whom she was blessed to share more than 68 years of marriage before his passing on Aug. 1, 2011.
Arlene was a graduate of Fayette High School where she served as the valedictorian of her class.
She was employed as a seamstress at L. Shellenberger Shirt factory in McAlisterville. Later in life, she was employed as a cafeteria worker at the East Juniata High School, Cocalamus and also helped with the accounting on her family farm with her husband.
She was a member and had attended the Lost Creek Mennonite Church.
Arlene enjoyed reading, cooking, flowers, and gardening.
She is survived by three children, Marlene Watts, Daryl Brubaker and his wife Denise, and Delbert Brubaker, all of McAlisterville; three grandchildren, Rich Watts and his wife Jody, Brent Brubaker and his wife Rebecca, Lauren Waite and her husband David; and four great-grandchildren, Alec Joseph Watts, Alyssa Jean Waite, Jacob Lee Brubaker, and Matthew Charles Brubaker.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Watts; and one brother, Lloyd S. Graybill.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lost Creek Mennonite Church, followed by the funeral at 11, with her nephew, Pastor Keith Graybill officiating.
Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.

Brubaker, Darin Ray, 3 years old, of Denver, died Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at home in a farm accident.
He was the son of Leroy and Sue Ann (Shirk) Brubaker. Also surviving are five siblings, Austin Lee, Twila Dawn, Brandon Roy, Kaitlyn Marie, and Mary Beth Brubaker, all at home; paternal grandfather, Ivan, widower of the late Mary (Weaver) Brubaker of New Holland; and maternal grandmother, Lizzie, widow of the late Amos Shirk of Denver; a special Aunt Lena Marie Shirk of Denver; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Darin was a busy boy and will be remembered for his smile and cheerful disposition.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 10 am at Calvary Mennonite Fellowship, 280 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl. Interment will be in the Open Door Mennonite Cemetery, Reading. Brubaker, Eleanore F., 67, of Mount Carmel, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at the Community Services Group Personal Care Home, Mount Carmel.
Eleanore was born Aug. 25, 1950, in Loveville, St. Mary's County, Maryland, a daughter of the late Enoch H. and Katherine S. (Fox) Brubaker.
Eleanore is survived by eight brothers and sisters, Paul F. Brubaker husband of Elizabeth, Arlene F. Stauffer, Anna Mae F. Auker wife of Leroy, Elsie F. Stauffer wife of Levi, Irma F. Zimmerman, Marvin F. Brubaker husband of Ruth, Nancy F. Zimmerman wife of Kenneth, and Alvin Lee F. Brubaker husband of Miriam; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John F. Brubaker and Irvin F. Brubaker; and one sister and three brothers-in-law, Grace F. and David Stauffer, Pheryl Zimmerman and John Stauffer.

Brunk, Joseph “Joe” Daniel, 83, of Harrisonburg, passed away Dec. 21, 2018. He was born Sept. 19, 1935, to Henry and Nora Kraus Brunk in Tacoma Park, Md.
Joe enjoyed playing golf, all sports and being involved with his church, Harrisonburg Mennonite. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.
On Oct. 26, 1957, he married Mary Louise Ours Brunk and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. They have a son, Craig L. Brunk and wife, Shelly, of Harrisonburg; a daughter, Cheri B. Shenk and husband, Mel, of Newport News, Va.; grandchildren, Allison Newhouse (Cameron) Selah Shenk, Dillion Brunk (Emily), Daniel Shenk, Micah Shenk, Noah Shenk and great-grandchildren, Luke M. Newhouse and Darren L. Brunk.
Joe was involved with ownership of the family business in Bladensburg, Md., People’s Supply Co. He was a graduate of Eastern Mennonite High School, Class of 1954. After moving to Virginia in the late 1970s, he became involved in several local businesses including real estate. His joy was providing affordable housing, especially to the Laotian community. It was a very rewarding ministry for him.
Besides his wife, Mary Louise, children grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he is survived by brothers, Nelson (Ruth) and Henry (Edna) of Harrisonburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Esther B. Loux, Ellen B. Griffin, Ruth B. Horst, Alma B. Baer and Perry E. Brunk.
A memorial service will be held at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at 11 a.m. Burial will be held privately at Weavers Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Buch, Carl J., 78, of Manheim, formerly of Akron, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community. He was born in West Earl Twp. to the late Arthur F. and Mary G. (Auker) Buch. He was baptized in August 1953 at Ephrata Mennonite Church. Carl worked for E.A.R.S. before retirement.

She was born April 8, 1921 at Perkasie, Bucks County, PA to Isaac Erwin and Nora Elizabeth (Rush) Yothers. Isaac was born April 5, 1884 and died September 19, 1959. Nora was born February 20, 1885 and died March 19, 1975.
On September 14, 1946 at Perkasie she was married to Harold Musselman Bucher, who was born February 23, 1924 and died July 20, 2004.
Surviving are children, Rachel Kauffman (Roger); David Bucher (Sharon Hoover); and Carol Bixler (Sam); ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Martha Yothers, widow of Isaac Erwin, Jr.

Buckwalter, Enos R., Jr., 89, formerly of Horseshoe Rd., Lancaster, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at Landis Homes. Born in East Lampeter Twp., he was the son of the late Enos R. Sr., and Maria H. Book Buckwalter. He was married for 67 years to Anna Burkholder Buckwalter.
Enos was a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of Mellinger Mennonite Church. A volunteer at Camp Hebron, Halifax, he was also a member of the 40-60 Group. He enjoyed traveling, camping, old cars, and driving taxi for the Amish.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: four children, Everett husband of Jane Martin Buckwalter, Leon husband of Joan Kreider Buckwalter, Linda wife of Lloyd Eby, Dale Buckwalter husband of Yvonne Gingrich; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: a daughter-in-law, Joanne Martin Buckwalter; a grandson; five sisters, Anna M. Buckwalter, Emma Buckwalter, Elizabeth Hess, Miriam Buckwalter, Alma Gehman.

She was born in New Holland, Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Ivan S. and Lydia M. (Hoover*) Hoover. She was married to Luke G. Burkholder on May 1st, 1971.
She was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference).
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Sharon, wife of Earl Dean Sensenig of Ephrata and Lamar H. Burkholder of Jonestown. Also four sisters and two brothers: Joyce wife of Daniel Miller of Lebanon, Ruth wife of Earl Zimmerman of Fairfax, VA, Ivan Ray Hoover of Northglenn, CO, Marvin S. Hoover married to Carolyn Lehman of Myerstown, Marian married to Lester Zimmerman of Myerstown, Mabel Jean married to Gerald Martin of Lititz, and one sister-in-law Mary married to James Hurst of Myerstown.

Burkholder, Marian B. Zimmerman, age 48 of Greenwood, passed away at her residence in the Town of Longwood on August 20, 2018.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 am, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Longwood Mennonite Church. Bishop Alvin Martin, Marvin Leid and Edwin Nolt will officiate. Burial will be in Longwood Mennonite Cemetery. Matthew, Landis, Paul, Jason, Cleason and Curvin Burkholder will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 24, 2018 at her residence at W6960 Popple River Road, Longwood.
Marian was born on May 9, 1970 in Leola, PA the daughter of John Jacob and Katie N. (Burkholder) Zimmerman. Her marriage took place on September 9, 1993 in Leola, PA to Ezra Z. Burkholder. Together they farmed in the Town of Longwood. She was a member of the Old Order Mennonite at Longwood, Groffdale Conf.
Marian is survived by her husband: Ezra Z. Burkholder, children: Marie, Karen, wife of Delvin Lamar Nolt of Thorp, Katie, Timothy, Laverne, Elaine, Regina, Kalvin, Christine and Marcus all at home, one grandchild: Riley James Nolt, her parents: John Jacob and Katie N. Zimmerman. She is further survived by her sisters: Anita B. Zimmerman of Leola, PA and Ellen B. wife of Reuben S. Burkholder of Greenwood, mother and father-in-law: Phares J. and Lydia M. Burkholder of Greenwood, brothers-in-law: Allen Z. Burkholder and Edwin Z. Burkholder husband of Lucy H. Burkholder and a number of nieces and nephews.
Marian is preceded in death by her brother: Elvin B. Zimmerman.
Burkholder, Melvin H., 78, husband of Lizzie Z. Shirk, of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018.
Melvin is survived by 11 children, Martha, wife of Reuben Weaver, Orrstown, PA, Esther, wife of Vernon Eby, Hopkinsville, KY, Ruth, wife of Leon Leinbach, Kempton, PA, Erma, wife of Amon Hoover, Hopkinsville, KY, Alta, Ephrata, PA, Mary, Ephrata, PA, Reuben, husband of Ellen Zimmerman, Greenwood, WI, Joseph, husband of Ella Zimmerman, Pembroke, KY, Susan, Ephrata, PA, Ammon, husband of Jane Zimmerman, Denver, PA, and Norma, Ephrata, PA. He is also survived by 50 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, Amos, Spencer, Tenn., Luke, Memphis, MO, Phares, Greenwood, WI, Norman, Denver, PA, 2 sisters, Mary Burkholder and Annie Burkholder, Ephrata, PA.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Allen, and one sister, Rebecca Burkholder.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018, at 9:30 am at Conestoga Mennonite Church, Ephrata, PA. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Arrangements by Stradling Funeral Homes, Inc., Akron/Ephrata.
Burkholder, Paul Groff
April 19, 1929 - October 26, 2018
Burkholder, Paul Groff, of Lititz, PA entered into the presence of Jesus whom he loved on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care. He was the husband of the late Miriam (Thomas) Burkholder whom he married October 15, 1949. They celebrated 64 years of marriage. He was born in Bareville to the late Paul Kreider and Bethel M. (Groff) Burkholder.
Paul & Miriam tilled his father's farm 1950-54 before the Lord called them to ministry in the Bronx, N.Y. in 1954, where they served for 13 years. Paul was ordained to the Gospel ministry at the Glad Tidings Mennonite Church, Bronx, NY, January 2, 1955. For eight years Paul drove New York City Taxi.
In 1954 their lives were turned to Jesus in a refreshing way through the East African Revival movement. Paul graduated from Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, VA, Class of 1970, with additional post graduate studies at Princeton Seminary, Eastern Mennonite Seminary, Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary and Marywood College.
He also served Mennonite pastorates in Corvallis, Oregon and eight years at the Groveland Mennonite Church, near Doylestown, Pennsylvania. He worked as Central & Western, PA Area Representative for Mennonite Mutual Aid Association (now Everence) for six years .and as a Consumer Credit Counselor for Tabor Community Services, Inc., Lancaster, PA 1987-96. Paul enjoyed his several occupations.
Following Retirement Paul and Miriam volunteered for two years with Mennonite Central Committee in Belle Glade, FL, after which they served with SOOP (Service Opportunities for Older Persons) in two locations.
He enjoyed traveling and especially via their motor home across the United States, Canada and Alaska and parking in their children and friends driveways to visit. He enjoyed embroidering quilts, did some quilting and made replicas of an antique kitchen clock for each of their 16 grandchildren.
Paul enjoyed life in all the places they lived. At Landis Homes Retirement Community since 2000, he enjoyed volunteering as shuttle and bus driver, Sunday school coordinator and teacher, preacher, and worship and song leader. Of special concern was that his listeners see Jesus beyond the sacred page, John 5:39. Paul began an in-house TV interview program at Landis Homes and served on Residents Council and other activities.
He is a member of the Forest Hills Mennonite Church where he previously served as Christian Education Director, Sunday School Teacher, Song Leader and with Miriam as pastoral visitors.
He is survived by: daughter Judy and husband Jerry Stoltzfus of Goshen, IN, son Glenn and wife Rita (Fisher) Burkholder of Bloomington, IN, Philip Swartley husband of deceased daughter Renee of Perkasie, PA, daughter Marilyn and husband Frantz (Fritz) Brandenburg of St Joseph, MI, son James and wife Tamara (Eckert) Burkholder of Bird-in-hand, PA, and foster son Kevin and Jackie (Sabol) Andress of Denver, PA. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 in the Landis Homes West Community Room from 5 - 8 p.m. and 9 - 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at the Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Road, Leola, PA with Memorial Service to follow.

Burkholder, Paul Groff, 89, of Lititz, Lancaster Co., PA died October 26, 2018 at Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA. He was born April 19, 1929 at Bareville, Lancaster Co., PA to Paul Kreider and Bethel M. (Groff) Burkholder. On October 26, 1949 he was married to Miriam Thomas, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, Judy (Jerry) Stoltzfus; Glenn (Rita) Burkholder; Marilyn (Frantz) Brandenburg; James Burkholder; and foster son, Kevin (Jackie) Andress; 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Renee (Philip) Swartley preceded him in death.
Served as pastor of Glad Tidings Mennonite Church in the Bronx, New York. Also served pastorates in Corvallis, Oregon and Groveland Mennonite Church, Doylestown, PA. Served as credit and financial counselor for Mennonite Mutual Aid (now Everence) and Tabor Community Services, Lancaster, PA.
Memorial services were held November 16, 2018 at Forest Hills Mennonite Church, Leola, Lancaster Co., PA.
Burkholder, Verna L. Sweigart, 76, of Akron died April 22, 2018 as a result of an auto accident. Born in Columbia, PA, Verna was a daughter of the late Frank & Alverta (Ludwig) Sweigart. She was the long-devoted wife of Arthur Burkholder, married 37-years until his passing in 1996.
Verna previously worked at Weiser's Market. She was a volunteer at MRC where she enjoyed making comforters. Verna was a member of Middle Creek Church of the Brethren in Lititz. She also enjoyed playing games with her friends from church.
Verna is survived by a daughter, Nancy Kulp (Steve) of Denver; a son, Douglas Burkholder (Barb) of Bridgton, NJ; four granddaughters: Katrina Imhoff, Christina Kulp, Angelica & Samantha Burkholder; one great-grandson, Aidan; and her twin sister, Vera Petticoffer (Carl). She was predeceased by her siblings, Clyde Sweigart, Fern Martin, Frank Sweigart, & Ken Sweigart.

Burkholder, Ward, age 80, of Bremen, died at 5:45 pm, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at his home. He was born October 14, 1937 in Marshall County to Joe and Fannie (Slabaugh) Burkholder. He lived his lifetime in this area. Mr. Burkholder was a retired farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
On October 19, 1958, he married Verda Stutzman. She survives, along with daughters, Elaine (Steve) Jones, Topeka, Vonda (Larry) Raber, Nappanee, Jolene (Lamar) Borkholder, Bremen; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Chupp, Spencer, WI, Fern (Mervin) Miller, Belle Center, OH, Linda (Kenneth) Menzie, Nappanee; and brother, Carl Burkholder, Bellefountain, OH. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, LaVerda Raber, sisters, Edith Hochstetler, Ruth Miller; and brothers, Earl, Ray, Owen, and Wayne Burkholder.
Family and friends may call after 3pm Sunday, May 20, 2018 and all day Monday, May 21st at the Lamar Borkholder Residence, 1070 E 5B Rd, Bremen. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am, Tuesday, May 22nd, also at the Lamar’s residence. Bishop Michael Swartz and Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will be in Cedar Road Cemetery.

Burkholder, Waylan Ray, 66, a resident of Dayton, passed away March 24, 2018, following a kidney transplant many years ago, which led to multiple myeloma cancer.
Mr. Burkholder was born Nov. 13, 1951, in Dayton and was a son of the late Dan Showalter and Hazel Catherine Shank Burkholder.
After his retirement from farming, he worked for Sharp Shopper for 10 years. He was a member of Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church.
On March 29, 1978, he married the former Phyllis Ann Rohrer, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Martin A. Burkholder and wife, Linda, of Rockingham and William R. Burkholder and wife, Lucy, of Dayton; two brothers, Everette Burkholder and wife, Eva, and Leon Burkholder and wife, Edith; three sisters, Milda Witmer and husband, Harold, Melva Beery and husband, Dale, and Elva Burkholder; a sister-in-law, Ella Burkholder; and six grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Mr. Burkholder was preceded in death by two brothers, Atlee Burkholder and Olen Burkholder, and a sister-in-law, Eva Burkholder.
The ministers of the church will conduct a funeral service Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The body will be taken to his home, where friends may call until 8 p.m. Monday.

Byler, Lisa Ann Yoder
Oct. 9, 1968 - June 18, 2018
MIDDLEBURY - Lisa Ann Byler, 49, of Middlebury, died Monday, June 18, 2018, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 9, 1968, to Lester and Florene (Troyer) Yoder.
On July 2, 1988, she married Joe Byler; he survives.
Survivors also are two daughters, Natasha (Nyal) Beachy and Briana Byler; parents Lester (Jolene) Yoder; sister Stacy (Geoff) Miller and their two sons and two daughters; three brothers, Brent, Reggie (Kayleen) Yoder and their three sons and daughter, and Craig (Maggie) Yoder.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Florene Yoder.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 20 and 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, 63846 C.R. 35, Goshen.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 22, also at the church.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen.
Memorials may be given to The Haven Building Fund.
Byler, J. Robert "Bob"
July 31, 1929 - March 31, 2018
J. Robert (Bob) Byler, of Lancaster, PA, passed away at age 88 on March 31, 2018. Born in Gap, PA, he was the son of the late J. Jesse and Elsie Byler, and was the loving husband of Ruth S. (Lapp) Byler for 67 years.
Bob served in the restaurant industry as general manager at Plain & Fancy Farm where he worked for 44 years. Later in life, he loved working part-time at the Manheim Auto Auction and enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends there. As a volunteer, he served more than 1500 hours on Contact's Helpline.
Bob was a friend to everyone and had a passion for reading. Through a national scripture program, he read through the Bible annually for 40 consecutive years. For many years, he indexed the books he read and kept a synopsis of each one. He was a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church for 60 years where he had served as an elder, Sunday School teacher and Boys Club leader.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his daughter, Carol Denlinger and her husband Eugene; son, Don Byler and his wife Cathy; son, Ron Byler and his wife Mim Shirk; seven grandchildren, Jesse Shirk-Byler, Ryan Byler (Seely), Kristi Steech (Danny), Brianna Byler, Lindsey Strauss (Dustin), Lauren Lefever (Mark) and Lia Denlinger; and six great-grandchildren, Adley Byler, Ellyson Steech, Brock Steech, Chase Strauss, Brooke Strauss and Olivia Lefever. He was preceded in death by a grandson Jared Denlinger and a sister, Janet Kauffman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 6, 2018, at Neffsville Mennonite Church, 2371 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA, 17601, where the family will receive guests from 12 Noon to the time of services.
